We are a small family business from Maine. We live and work in Maine and we want to help our fellow Mainers harness the power of the sun. We believe that everyone should be able to enjoy “the way life should be” AND be able to afford it. Which is why we started this company. The cost of electricity always seems to be going up and the number of appliances using electricity is on the rise as well. So through a desire to utilize solar on our own homes, and learning about how great the benefit can be, we decided to get into the business and help others enjoy the financial stability a solar system can offer. 

Origin Energy LLC is founded and run by a father/son team that has been in business together for decades. Tom Blakeney (father) and Evan Blakeney (son) started this business out of a belief that solar power, especially small distributed systems, is the most responsible way to produce electricity. The sun transfers enough solar energy to earth to meet global energy demands 10,000 times over! It only makes sense to capture some of it to run your home or business. 

Although that was the main catalyst for starting this business it was far from the only reason we did it. When we thought about what we wanted our solar business to be and mean to people and the world around us we knew it needed to stand for the most important things in our lives; our faith in God, and our family. 

We are all about family. Evan may be the most blessed man on earth between his amazing wife of 11 years, that literally holds everything together, and his two smart and beautiful young daughters. Tom is in a different season in life and is competing for the title of most blessed! He has been married to an amazing wife for over 40 years, 4 kids that all turned out “ok”, as he would sarcastically put it, and Evan’s two young girls are just 2 of his 10 grandchildren! We often joke that we only want work hard enough to spend more time with our family.
